It’s about to get spicy down in Pantherland! The Florida Panthers and the Maple Leafs are squaring up once again, this time on Florida turf, and you already know who’s riding shotgun with Toronto. Yup, their loudest and proudest hype-man, Paul Bissonnette. The former NHLer turned full-time Leafs cheerleader has never missed a chance to back his squad, and after they sent the Senators packing in Game 6 with a 4-2 dub, Biz was absolutely buzzin’. Leafs fans were sweating bullets when the Sens clawed back into the series, but that sweet Game 6 win? Oh, it hit different.
After that series win, ‘Biz Nasty’ dropped a message straight from the heart: “To Leafs nation, an incredible victory… great job putting (Max Pacioretty), great adjustments this series… the core four, now core five, we’ve graduated with the performance of Matthew Knies. We’re onto greener pastures.” But hold up, just when the vibes were sky-high, a former USA hockey star pulled a bold stunt at the Panthers’ home game, and let’s just say… Biz was not having it.
Florida’s got jokes, and they’re hitting hard with the drumsticks. Colby Guy, the Florida Panthers writer over at PucksAndPalms.com and @pbpost, hopped on X to share a hilarious moment from the Panthers vs. Leafs showdown that had the whole arena howling. He posted, “#FlaPanthers legend Keith Yandle is tonight’s guest drummer. He gives the drum — and a shirt with @BizNasty2point0 drawn on it with the caption ‘Biz Idiot’ — a beating.” And yeah… that shirt? It wasn’t just any tee. It had Paul Bissonnette’s face sketched on it.

In the video, Yandle rolled up like a rockstar, crowd going wild, energy through the roof, and just as he started hammering the drum to hype up the Florida Panthers faithful, out pops the shirt featuring Bissonnette’s cartoon mug and a “Biz Idiot” label. What does Yandle do? Oh, just casually slams the drumsticks through the shirt like he’s shredding a Biz-themed piñata. It was petty. It was loud. It was peak playoff trolling.

Before a puck even dropped in the Florida Panthers vs. Leafs showdown, Bissonnette was already trying to rattle some cages, specifically Matthew Tkachuk’s. Flashback to earlier in May, just after Brandon Hagel got benched by the league for that late bump on Sasha Barkov, Tkachuk decided to stir the pot in Game 3. With the Cats already down 4-1, he came charging at Jake Guentzel like a shoulder-powered missile after the puck had left the chat. But here’s the plot twist, no hearing, no timeout, not even a slap on the wrist.
Elliotte Friedman was like “case closed,” and Tkachuk skated away grinning. Meanwhile, fans were fuming like, “But Hagel got one for his. NHL again showing they favor certain players and teams.” With the Florida Panthers carrying that reigning champs glow and Tkachuk sitting pretty as a top-tier name, the favoritism talk just hit overdrive. Still, our boy Matty kept it cute and cheeky, dropping a smooth little jab on TNT that let the trolls know he hears ’em, but he’s not pressed.
And then came the fireworks on The Pat McAfee Show. Pat and Biz linked up and called up Tkachuk and Biz went straight for the chaos with, “planning on hitting any Maple Leafs players this round or what?” And Pat? He upped the ante with a playful zing: “hey you planning on taking any cheap shots, Tkachuk is what he’s saying?” Classic chirp energy. But Tkachuk? He just leaned into the mic and dropped a quote: “I don’t know what he’s talking about. If I would have been taking cheap shots, I would have been suspended.” Swagger level: maxed out. And guess what? Paul also raised a crucial point that could seem challenging for his Leafs against the Florida Panthers.

Things got spicy over on the TNT broadcast, where Biz sat down with the crew and gave us his straight-up, no-chaser take and said, “If you’ve been to the finals, they won the Stanley Cup; they’re not going down quietly. So this is an intriguing series, can’t wait for game four. I can’t wait to see this moment.” But then he flipped the vibe real quick, throwing out a red flag mid-chat. “No, no, I have some concerns,” he jumped in, “The pounding at the Leafs’ theater. They’re absorbing a lot of contact on the amazing forecheck that Florida has. So I’m worried as the series goes on how much is that going to tear away from the Leafs’ defenseman as far as making plays and availability.” The man basically called out Florida’s hustle for wearing Toronto’s D-line down like a pair of old skates.

And Biz didn’t stop there, he zoomed in on two big names: Chris Tanev and Auston Matthews. “You saw Tanev go down the tunnel last game. You can’t lose him,” he said, clearly stressing how crucial Tanev’s presence is when that Florida pressure’s coming in hot. Then he turned the spotlight on Matthews, calling on the star to step it up on offense: “I think he’s got to find the back of the net… But I think that on the road, he needs to have a big win and find the back of the net.” He rounded it out by hinting at just how big Game 4 really is, especially with the Leafs leaving their home crowd behind. But is Biz Nasty panicking? Nah. He wrapped it all with a hopeful yet skeptical glance at the squad’s core: “And we’ll see what they’ve got in game four.”
