Wow, things are really heating up between the Winnipeg Jets and the St. Louis Blues! So, here’s the thing? I guess the fans have figured out who the culprit is. Jets fans are really worried about the whole Presidents’ Trophy curse thing as the team gears up for a crucial Game 7 in their first-round playoff series against the Blues. President’s trophy curse or not, the Jets’ fate will be decided in just a few short hours.

The Jets, having clinched the Presidents’ Trophy for the best regular-season record, are facing some challenges in the playoffs due to the absence of an important forward. So, who’s out?

On X, NHL insider Frank Seravalli reported: “Scott Arniel tells reporters #nhljets Mark Scheifele is out for Game 7 tonight.” Mark Scheifele got injured in Game 5 after taking some tough hits from Blues players, and unfortunately, he’s been ruled out for Game 7. That’s a big loss, especially considering he had an impressive 87 points in the regular season and six points in just five playoff games. Looks like this is a real bummer for Jets fans.

Remember when Winnipeg Jets coach Scott Arniel mentioned during Saturday’s media session, “Obviously, a great sign. Feels a lot better today than he did yesterday. He wanted to go out and see how he felt and we’ll move forward. He’ll be a game-time decision.” So, this was all about their star forward. It seems like he didn’t bounce back the way everyone expected.

Scheifele’s steady offensive output played a key role in the Jets’ successful season, helping them tie a franchise record with 52 wins and clinch the Presidents’ Trophy for the best regular-season record. So, losing him in a key playoff game led to everyone pointing fingers at the President Trophy curse.

Winnipeg Jets fans are not happy

The Winnipeg Jets had a pretty solid run during the regular season. But, fans really don’t want to see a Round 1 exit after all the excitement that’s been built up around the franchise. A fan shared, “St Louis Biz… President’s trophy curse.” Another fan chimed in, saying, “Presidents Trophy Curse still in full effect, sheesh.”

What’s your perspective on:

Can the Jets overcome the Presidents' Trophy curse without Scheifele, or is Game 7 a lost cause?

Have an interesting take?

The “Presidents’ Trophy curse” is the belief that NHL teams that finish the regular season with the best record, snagging the Presidents’ Trophy, tend to have a tough time in the playoffs and often don’t end up winning the Stanley Cup. Since the trophy started back in the 1985-86 season, just eight out of its 37 winners have actually gone on to win the Stanley Cup in that same year.

Aside from the curse, this fan just couldn’t believe how the Round 1 matchup between the Jets and the Blues went to Game 7, saying, “I genuinely can’t believe that series got to 7. The presidents cup curse is real.” This longtime hockey fan said, “Presidents Cup curse . Any OG hockey fan knows this.” This Jets fan seems a bit too shocked to respond, just saying, “Ouch.” With just a few hours left, we’ll have to wait and see what happens with the Jets and the Blues.
