Bruce Springsteen Raised More Than $300,000 by Giving Away His Prized Possession to Support Equestrian Daughter’s Olympic Team in 2020

The cost of a high-quality horse for the Olympic equestrian sport might easily exceed $250,000. Another expense necessary to pursue this hobby, is purchasing a suitable property. The sport’s ostentatious nature has made it popular among the world’s millionaires and billionaires. Bruce Springsteen also makes the list. Over his six-decade career, he has recorded 21 studio albums, the majority of which include the E Street Band as a backup band. The musician, also follows his daughter Jessica Springsteen’s equestrian pursuits.

Jessica’s accomplishments in the sport are well-known. Therefore her father was more than willing to part with some valuables to show his support. In 2020, Horsetalk released a report on how rock star Bruce Springsteen helped finance over $300,000 for the United States Equestrian Team’s Olympic campaign in Tokyo. During the bidding, the singer also gave an unexpected performance.

Chairing the 2020 USET Foundation’s Take Me To Tokyo Gala in Wellington, Florida, with his wife Patti Scialfa, Bruce Springsteen stepped up to the mic to assist with the auction. He encouraged bigger bids by saying he would begin singing if they reached a particular amount, and when they did, Springsteen took the stage and got the packed audience up and dancing. A Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a Fender guitar, both signed by him, were also up for auction. It was a terrific start to the auction, in which the motorcycle and the guitar alone brought in more than $300,000.

As reported by Horsetalk, more than 500 people attended the gala, which was held to raise money for the United States Equestrian Team to compete in the 2020 Summer Olympics and Paralympics in Tokyo. Overall, the event was a big success, raising nearly $1.5 million for the sport.

Jessica Springsteen has been an equestrian her whole life. She has been training with ponies and horses since she was five years old. Her hard work paid off when, in 2021, she competed in the Olympics as a show jumper; she is also considered one of the best equestrians in the United States. Nonetheless, her parents, Patti Scialfa and Bruce Springsteen, were her true idols and biggest supporters, providing both emotional and financial assistance throughout her equestrian career.

Her parents are accomplished musicians, yet they never pressured her to follow in their footsteps. However, they were totally on board with the kind of life that Jessica aspired to have, which was that of an equestrian.
