The scene investigators concluded that Hennen was horseback riding when the accident occurred because the horse slipped and fell. The rider lost control and went tumbling down an embankment next to Birch Coulee Creek when the horse collapsed.

The witnesses to the terrible event did not hesitate to take matters into their own hands and begin administering first aid to the unconscious victim. The West Central Tribune reports that the local Sheriff’s Office was notified of the terrible crash on Sunday at 5:23 p.m., one-mile northeast of Morton, at the intersection of 675th Avenue and 355th Street. The Morton Medical Response Unit (MRU), Morton Fire Department, and CentraCare Ambulance helped the locals, while the Renville County Sheriff’s Office and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office are currently looking into the incident and will release the results at a later date.
