“Olympics Will Be Fireworks”: Internet Reacts After Femke Bol Surpasses Sydney McLaughlin

Before 2023 set in, Dutch track and field sensation Femke Bol, despite unlimited talent, had remained under the shadows of Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone. But as the year progressed, she gradually kept upping the ante until she finally broke the 400m indoor World Record last year, which was standing for 40 years. Today, she broke that again.

Bol has been in serious form since the onset of 2024. She opened the season in Metz with 49.69 and then improved to 49.63 in Lievin. The 23-year-old sprinted to 50.55 in the heats on Saturday, and today, she broke last year’s 49.26 second World Record.

Femke Bol is continuing to outshine Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone in the 400-meter sprints as she races to another World Record during the Dutch Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn. Bol clocked an astonishing 49.24 seconds to finish the 400 meters. Two seconds less than her previous record, Bol retained her national title.

It marked the sixth time when Bol had clocked less than 50 seconds in the 400 meters, and she also holds the record of having six of the 12 fastest indoor 400m times in history. While only Britton Wilson is from America on the list, Bol glaring happy over the sumptuous victory. “It’s a dream come true to run another world record and it’s wonderful to have all these Dutch fans enjoying the most beautiful sport in the world“, she said in an interview. And so were fans, in fact, the comment section had gone crazy!

Bol’s speed gets the internet crazy

With 6 fastest times out of 12, there’s absolutely no doubt that Femke Bol is the queen of indoor tracks. And the fans think the same. Hailing Bol’s incredible performances, a user commented, “She has absolutely conquered the indoor track.”

But someone might be more geared up than happy right now. You guessed it right, Sydney McLaughlin will be itching to take on Bol at the Olympics. “Sydney must be keeping an eye on her. The Olympics are going to be epic“, a fan reminded the track and field community. “These Olympics will be fireworks”, another user wrote.

And joining them is Femke Bol. “Bro these few days have been mad I just wanna skip to the Olympics to see what’ll happen is every event 💀“, a fan noted. It’s a different kind of adrenaline rush seeing the records break, but nonetheless, adrenaline it is.
