When the Nashville Predators and the Edmonton Oilers met last month in the NHL, it was a struggle to the finish. The spectators did see a strange part of the game unfold in the second period. Juuse Saros, the goaltender for the Predators, and Klim Kostin, a winger for the Oilers, pulled off an unusual move on the ice rink.

Soon after the game ended, a video was uploaded to the NHL’s official YouTube channel. For a while, Juuse Saros remained close to the net while Klim Koston swung his hockey stick above him, from left to right and back again. The ‘controller disconnect’ meme, common among NHL 23 gamers, caused a frenzy in the comments section as players and spectators alike made the connection between the real-life occurrence and the video game.

The majority of the NHL community plays NHL 23. The ideal ice hockey simulation developed by EA Sports is popular among fans who wish to experience an NHL game in simulation. Once they saw that Saros and Kostin were behaving strangely on the ice rink, they quickly made the connection to the internet meme. Even the title of this video relates to the popular meme and states, “Saros needs new controller batteries.”
This fan leaves a hilarious comment that reads, “He’s just standing there… menacingly!”
It looks like this fan likes the way Juuse Saros just stood there for a while as they say, “My man’s just chillin, vibin, unbothered, moisturized, staying in his own lane.”

Dante Fabbro, a defender with the Predators, surely was perplexed as he stood behind the net with the puck when Juuse Saros and Klim Kostin had their ‘controller disconnect’ moment.
Fabbro sat patiently behind the net since he didn’t want to give the other side a goal. Fabbro did nothing except watch Kostin as he swung his hockey stick around Saros. The Predators’ Alexandre Carrier swooped in and stole the puck from Fabbro. The match did go on after that, and fans and even the commentator were shocked by what had just happened.
