A majority of hockey fans termed the 2023’s NHL All-star game as a flop. The Atlantic Division all-stars prevailed over the Central Division in the grand finals by a score of 7-5. Even though Dylan Larkin scored a hat trick, Matthew Tkachuk was named the game’s MVP, further aggravating the fans.

When the NHL’s official Instagram account announced the MVP of the all-star game, fans were not amused. The post by the social media account’s manager brought in more comments and caused havoc in the comment section. Fans were not prepared to accept what had been done to Dylan Larkin, captain of the Detroit Red Wings, and the responses were vehement.

The NHL world refuses to accept the decision

Matthew Tkachuk scored the game’s opening goal with help from his brother, Brady Tkachuk, but it would be his only goal of the night. Dylan Larkin continued his scoring spree from the first period with goals in the 10th, 13th, and 19th minutes. After a good start, the Atlantic Division maintained its control throughout the contest. Tkachuk’s MVP award from the NHL, despite his having contributed to just one goal, was seen as unfair by the fans who had united for Larkin.

Among the plenty of fans supporting Larkin, this fan has also left a personal opinion, saying, “I’d of chose Larkin personally.”

This fan claims that the NHL doesn’t care about the captain of the Red Wings, saying, “Larkin doesn’t exist anymore ig.”

Another fan believes the NHL despises the team, writing, “Dylan Larkin robbed, just shows you the NHL hates Detroit.”

However, an NHL 23 fan left a comment as he is afraid of his virtual ice hockey team getting affected by this, saying, “Larkin snubbed bro my NHL 23 HUT card got fleeced.”
