It has been quite some time since a goaltender has celebrated a shutout. In the NHL matchup between the Arizona Coyotes and the Tampa Bay Lightning from the night before, it was the Coyotes’ goaltender who stole the show. NHL fans were shocked when the Coyotes, who are now ranked 12th in the Western Conference, upset the tough Eastern Conference 5th-ranked squad.

The NHL’s official Instagram post congratulated Coyotes goaltender Connor Ingram. In the post, they mentioned, “What a way to record your first. @connoringram sets an NHL record for most saves in a first NHL shutout with 47!” This is the first and only season Ingram has played with the Coyotes. While the goaltender has had little time to recover from his club’s recent string of losses, a shutout victory against a team, that has won the Stanley Cup three times, is especially noteworthy.
