The game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Chicago Blackhawks last night did not lack intensity. With an NHL team established in Canada, this season has been fantastic for them. It’s great that the Maple Leafs are now in the playoff picture for the Stanley Cup as they are in the fourth position in the Eastern Conference. It’s unusual for a winning team’s coach to call off the celebrations, but the Maple Leafs’ coach must have a valid reason.

Terry Koshan, a reporter, recently tweeted an interview he had with Sheldon Keefe, the coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs. There was a three-goal advantage going into the final period, but the head coach didn’t appear very excited about the victory.

For now, Sheldon Keefe wants to focus on their next game by taking a small break, saying, “We did what we needed to do tonight … frankly speaking, it’s a game we’re not going to evaluate too much in terms of anything good or bad. Wash it and move on, enjoy a day off tomorrow, and get ready for Montreal. 

The reporter followed up with the head coach, asking him why he had no plans to review the Blackhawks game. “We got a tired team in here on a back to back, it’s a team that … I don’t think the game had much life to it. It’s not what you come to expect in terms of what it’s like to play in the NHL. There wasn’t a lot of emotion in the game,” Keefe replied, in a video uploaded by the official NHL YouTube page.

The Maple Leafs’ coach had hoped for more activity from his opponent, but the Blackhawks fell well short. He thinks the Maple Leafs would be better off preparing for the upcoming game rather than dwelling on the results of the previous one.

Not enough heat to melt the ice

The first and second periods of the game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Chicago Blackhawks were far from dull. William Nylander, a right winger for the Maple Leafs, scored the game’s opening goal in the first minute. A little time later, Blackhawks forward Sam Lafferty tied the score. Rasmus Sandin and Auston Matthews scored for the Maple Leafs in the ninth and twelfth minutes, respectively, to give their team a commanding 3-1 lead against the visiting team.

The Blackhawks attempted a comeback with a goal from center Philipp Kurashev in the second period’s opening minute. However, Maple Leafs John Tavares and Conor Timmins scored in the 28th and 37th minutes, respectively, and the second period ended with a 5-2 score. The score didn’t change in the third period as the game ended, 5-2.
