In the post-game interview, Ron Hextall says to the reporter, “It doesn’t impact me at all. I understand the fans’ frustration. We have high expectations as well and we haven’t met them, so we totally get it.” He takes accountability for his role, saying, “You’re the GM and know what you’re signing off. We work in the public eye. Criticism is part of the business, and you just get to have to handle it. You have to deal with it. And I do believe we can make the playoffs, yes.”

Ron Hextall didn’t try to hide the animosity from the fans’ eyes. He’s aware of what happens when a team under one manager struggles. As of right now, the Pittsburgh Penguins are the Eastern Conference’s 11th team. They need to finish in the top eight, in the regular season, if they want to enter the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The club is now going through a hard stretch as they have lost four straight games. The club’s administration is making every effort to keep the players inspired, so that they can continue winning games for the sake of the club’s and its supporters’ reputations.

After 57 games this season, the Penguins have a 27-30 record and 63 points to show for it. There are still a lot of games for the Penguins to win, in order to reach the playoffs. The team’s challengers have 64 points through 8th place, so the club isn’t too far behind.
