Despite this, the surfing world has finally made its way to Rio de Janeiro for the VIVO Rio Pro. The event is significant for Brazilian surfers since all eyes will be on their hometown heroes. Italo Ferreira, who hasn’t won a WSL tournament since the 2021 Rip Curl Newcastle Cup, would also be eager to win the main event.

In order to pursue his dream of surfing for his nation, the surfer has decided to join the Banco do Brasil squad.

In the surfing world, Italo Ferreira stands out. As a young boy, the Brazilian discovered his love for surfing with the help of the lid off one of his fisherman father’s cooler boxes. Since becoming professional, Ferreira has earned a place in surfing history as the 2015 Rookie of the Year, the 2019 World Champion, and the first male surfer to win gold at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. He has come a long way and is now supported by major brands like Billabong, Red Bull, Bridgestone, Ford, and many more.

He is excited to represent his nation in future surfing competitions as a member of the Banco do Brasil squad. Having sponsors is major news in the surfing world since it’s the only way the WSL and the surfers can make a living. Ferreira writes “very honored” in the caption of an Instagram photo showing him carrying a surfboard with the organization’s insignia. More importantly, he concludes the message with the words, “Let’s continue firm and strong on this journey.”
