Since becoming professional, Ferreira has earned a place in surfing history as the 2015 Rookie of the Year, the 2019 World Champion, and the first male surfer to win gold at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. Having sponsors is major news in the surfing world since it’s the only way the WSL and the surfers can make a living. Ferreira writes “very honored” in the caption of an Instagram photo showing him carrying a surfboard with the organization’s insignia. More importantly, he concludes the message with the words, “Let’s continue firm and strong on this journey.”
