But, during their lengthy discussion, the actor disclosed a recent personal experience. Recently, a fan called out to the actor, “Yo, Atkins,” when he was surfing, completely catching him off guard. The actor has a wide range of skills, earning him several nicknames from his devoted admirers. One of them is “Sodapop,” after his iconic performance in Francis Ford Coppola’s The Outsiders (1983). The actor is used to being referred to by many names by his admirers due to his wide range of roles.

As the actor discussed his endeavors in different fields in the podcast, Netflix reported it, as Rob Lowe says, “This is my favorite thing of all time. I don’t know what they’re going to say. Literally, I was surfing the other day — I’m on a wave — and a guy goes, ‘Yo, Atkins.’ Because I’m the spokesman for Atkins, and been for the last four years. I have had people go, ‘I miss your DirecTV commercials.’ Or, ‘Hey, Sodapop!’ And that to me is what’s so cool. I have friends who are super famous for one or two things, and that’s what it’s going to be always.” 

His adventures in the world of surfing

After being nominated for six Golden Globes, actor Rob Lowe has also been spotted surfing. The 59-year-old has often been the subject of gossip due to the attractive surfing images he sometimes shares. Lowe didn’t learn to surf until he was in his 40s, and even then, he wasn’t ready for the fearsome waves of Malibu.

In a conversation about his passion for surfing, Lowe said that he has always carried a board with him, having it refurbished whenever it becomes damaged. He brings it to a specialized repair company in Santa Barbara called A-Frame, where they are able to fix it quickly and easily. According to the actor, this surfboard fits him well as it’s neither too brief nor too lengthy. In addition, he can use it to paddle without any issues.

The actor seems unfazed by the fact that his admirers call him by a variety of nicknames due to the many parts he has played; he sees it as a compliment.
