Despite the impending arrival of Australia’s harsh, cold, and wet winters, surfers are currently enjoying a terrific season. Surfers aren’t the only ones attracted to the sport, however; dolphins, another intelligent species, may often be found challenging the waves as well. This photographer just captured an incredible shot of a surfer being almost pushed off his board by a playful dolphin.
After receiving north-westerly winds from Cyclone Gabrielle, surfers in Byron Bay, New South Wales, had a field day. Sightseers on the beach were treated to a touching scene, as a pod of dolphins joined the surfers in the middle of their session. Paul Stanley-Jones is an avid surfer and photographer. He has been surfing since he was six years old, and he thinks, it’s awesome when people like dolphins and surfers get together in the water. Stanley-Jones values preserving precious memories, so he takes fantastic photographs.
In the Daily Mail Australia report, the photographer says, “The surfers were having the time of their lives but the dolphins were having more fun.” Based on what Stanley-Jones said, dolphins seem to be highly intelligent animals, who enjoy socializing with humans.
