The surfer is at the ocean’s whims and fancies at all times, making surfing a sport for the brave. This group of surfers, though, is laughing at their shared adolescent experiences and has no trouble riding out the waves. Koa Rothman, a famous Hawaiian actor, is also a skilled surfer and a close friend of surfing icon John John Florence and his brother, Nathan Florence. Remarkably, the three famous people have many common experiences from their youth as close friends.

John John Florence, the winner of back-to-back World Surf League (WSL) titles, joins his brother Nathan and actor Koa Rothman for a chat about surfing in Episode 8 of the Nate and Koa Podcast on YouTube. They also shared a humorous anecdote about a mistake Rothman made while driving his car.

What kind of tomfoolery was that

The three surfers laughed at the day John and Nathan tried to free a truck from the sand by digging it out with the help of their car’s wheels. John also reflects on the incident as a defining educational moment for him. Rothman was driving when John told him to go across a puddle without checking its depth. Nonetheless, John’s assurance won over Rothman, who ended up accepting his word. John was so certain about the depth of the puddle that even his brother Nathan remembers the incident.

Once Rothman had driven his car only a few feet above the puddle, it completely gave up. Rothman recalled having to wait for a short while before the vehicle started up again on its own. And ever since that day, when the car became wedged in the puddle, he says, it’s been nothing but trouble. He also says, “That’s pretty funny. Those were good times.”
