After a brief hiatus, the Team Series returned with a matchup between the Missouri Thunder and the Oklahoma Freedom. The duel got off to a rough start because Brazilian cowboy Alex Cerqueira hadn’t prepared for the bull’s response.

The gnarly nature of the sport of rodeo

A battle between the Missouri Thunder and the Oklahoma Freedom took place as part of the PBR Team Series. The rodeo arena was packed with spectators waiting to see a thrilling matchup between the two teams from all around the United States. Already having seen the prowess of the Austin Gamblers and the Kansas City Outlaws, it was time for the other teams to step up.

Alex Cerqueira was one of the original riders for the Oklahoma Freedom, and he rode the bull known as Rodeo Thug. The rodeo arena was tensely waiting for the metal chutes to go off, and the cowboy and bull did the same.

As soon as the metal chutes were removed, Rodeo Thug started to buck solely within the confines of the arena. While the crowd watched the Brazilian cowboy take on the bucking bull, the gates were opened, and the bull bucked his way into the center of the arena. The cowboy, however, falls to his left as the bull spins, losing his grip. The bull continued to lash out at the cowboy with its horn even after the rodeo crew intervened. The rescuers formed a triangle immediately as the bull left the cowboy and returned to the metal chutes.

The bull earned an impressive 41.50 points with its maneuver. However, there was still time for some more cowboy action before the contest ended.

His teammate’s feat won the team a victory

While the other cowboys were struggling to score, Elizmar Souza Jeremias of Brazil entered the action. Dirty Wave, a bull with a buck-off rate of 67%, was paired with the Brazilian cowboy. The Oklahoma Freedoms were experiencing a stressful period, but their perseverance was soon to be rewarded.

Both the bull and the cowboy were off the metal chutes. Even when the bull continued to buck and get dangerously close to the fence, the cowboy maintained control. A member of the rodeo crew also narrowly escaped being crushed between the arena’s corner and the charging bull during those terrifying 8 seconds. The 8-second bell sounded, but the cowboy didn’t throw himself from the bull. This ride netted the Freedom 89.25 points and contributed to their victory against the Missouri Thunder.
