The 2025 NWSL season is functioning in full swing. With all 14 teams playing relentlessly week after week, it feels like you take one breath and—bang—matchday is back. It’s easy to imagine how exhausted the players must be, given they train all week and then compete on the weekends. But when it comes to managing time, Christen Press seems to be a master, still finding room for off-field activities.

The USWNT superstar recently joined Magic Johnson and several other A-listers to show support for a WNBA side LA Sparks. The California-based basketball team even though suffered a 75-89 defeat at home by the Minnesota Lynx, still managed to pull off quite a star-studded front row. It came through an Instagram post shared by the Sparks, proudly showcasing their Celeb row.

Aside from Magic Johnson, Christen Press’ plus one was her significant other and former USWNT forward Tobin Heath. Adding more flare at Crypto.com Arena was American actress and comedian pair, Jessica Williams (Expected being an LA native) and Leslie Jones. All posed at the camera by giving big smiles and thumbs-ups.

Interestingly, some more exclusive behind-the-scenes were shared by Press on her Instagram stories. The first one featured the Angel City forward taking a selfie with Heath with her tongue out to make a funny expression. It also had a caption that read, “LA Sparks girl summer.” The next one saw them pose in front of the court, with Press again writing, “Game✊🏾”. The last story was nothing but a re-share of the post that LA Sparks had posted.

Sadly, Press couldn’t add a victory moment snap from the game, as the home side endured a double-digit defeat. Had that not been the case, it surely would have been a perfect arrival for these A-listers. Not to mention how busy Christen has been with her professional life. Aside from playing, the former Manchester United star also co-hosts a podcast with Tobin Heath. Now, we bet you must be wondering how she managed to make time for this.

But considering the match took place in the same city and was less than an hour’s drive away, we’ll give her the benefit of the doubt for making time for such an off-pitch activity. Then again, the talking point is that she must have enjoyed watching the Sparks give their all—and more importantly, spending time with her significant other to promote and support women’s sports.

In fact, consider it a well-deserved break. Given how things have been on the pitch for her, this is the least she could have gotten—one has to cut her some slack!

Christen Press’ first NWSL start ends in upset!

The beginning of the NWSL season has been somewhat difficult for Christen Press, having made just five appearances off the bench in the last eight games. Interestingly, the previous game proved favorable for the 36-year-old as she came off the bench to score her first goal of the season, while also breaking the deadlock for Angel City.

Sadly just after her arrival, the game took an unfortunate turn of events as fellow teammate Savy King collapsed and had to be rushed to a hospital. The defender underwent a successful heart surgery earlier this week and recently gave a positive update on her health status.

As for yesterday’s match vs Bay FC, Press made the starting XI after nine matches. However, things went completely south as Angel City ended up conceding two goals within the first half. The magic of Christen Press wasn’t visible as she ended up getting substituted in the 67th minute. The defeat keeps ACFC in seventh place with only 11 points. Either way, hope remains to see Christen Press bounce back in the next match.
