“I want to be the athlete that brought the fun to sport,” Trinity Rodman once remarked, hoping that after the Washington Spirit forward retires, people remember her as more than just a soccer player. Honestly, it’s quite an ambitious take—and not the first time someone’s had this food for thought—but with her bold celebrations and tricky antics on the ball, Rodman certainly gives it her all. Whether Rodman is truly on her way to becoming that fun-igniting athlete remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure: she’s been a walking party off the pitch since her early days. At least, that’s what her fellow USWNT teammate Michelle Cooper believes.

As someone who has spent quite an awful amount of time painting ‘craziest‘ memories with Dennis Rodman’s daughter, one has to hear the KC Current forward spilling beans on never-before-heard things about her fellow national comrade. “We have so many photos together,” vividly recalled Michelle while speaking with Sam Mewis on The Women’s Game podcast.

The 22-year-old forward, who has represented the American team from the U16 level all the way through U18, U19, and U20, recalled a time when she and Rodman were in Germany with the national team. With nothing much to do, the two kept the team energized by dancing—and even compelling others to join in as well.

“It was so embarrassing looking back now. But back then, it was so funny. You would do the craziest things to have fun at camp ’cause you’re in the middle of nowhere in Germany, chasing a dream,” chuckled Cooper, recalling the good old days with her bestie who now she faces as an NWSL rival. As if these details weren’t enough, the Current forward didn’t stop and ended up revealing a classic Trinity Rodman story.

This was another dancing story from the top of her head. Of course, at that time, TikTok was on trend so much both used to make some hilarious vines together. “There were these songs that would be like 15-second snippets and we would do the dances religiously. We [used to] play the song in the locker room and me, Trinity, and one other teammate would just break down full dance for the team every single time,” Cooper revealed.

Sure, you might think it only got more embarrassing for the two USWNT youngsters. But Michelle doesn’t really see it that way—at least not yet, knowing her soccer fans haven’t seen it. “I would love to have some of those vines resurface, I think that they would be really popular… oh jeez,” concluded the Detroit, Michigan native.

Trinity Rodman doesn’t want soccer to be her ‘entire’ life!

Don’t get her wrong. The Spirit star does aspire to become the best version of herself in the beautiful game. In fact, since childhood, she has been aspiring to become an Olympic athlete and a World Cup winner. But deep down, it often ends up making her realize that there is life beyond laurels, goals, and galore. “I don’t want soccer to be my entire [life],” said the 22-year-old on Call Her Daddy podcast. “It won’t help me in the long run and I will feel like I lack purpose once I’m done playing.”

While most players eye records, Trinity Rodman is more focused on carving out a unique identity—bringing something different to her name and game that sets her apart from the rest. Simply put, instead of being someone who scored 1000 goals or wearing the best athlete crown, she has a rather humble aim: “I want to be remembered like, ‘She was a great athlete, but she also made it fun to watch and be a part of’,” concluded the 2024 Paris Olympian.

Well, guess what, Trinity? Now that we’ve heard your amusing story from Michelle Cooper, we’ll definitely remember you as more than just a soccer player—someone who truly brought a fun element to the game.
