“Your queen isn’t going anywhere,” wrote LOVB Omaha when they picked up former Nebraska Huskers star Lexi Rodriguez. The record-setting Libero hadn’t announced plans to go pro, so fans rejoiced when the volleyball icon joined League One Volleyball shortly after graduating. Yet, despite once again representing Omaha as a pro, the Huskers fans are yet to see their queen in action.
So as fans keep waiting for the Libero with the highest digs in Nebraska’s history, Rodriguez continues to attend practice and post on social media. However, in her latest TikTok, the former college volleyball icon mediated on serious issues. Expressing her desire to coach others someday, the 23-year-old made a not-so-optimistic comment on coaching.

Lexi Rodriguez focused on a different side of coaching
As a volleyball prodigy since high school, Rodriguez is well aware of a coach’s role in honing a player’s abilities. Every passionate talent needs a coach’s guidance. However, the libero also understands how coaches may push athletes too far, making playing all about winning. “This trend makes me so sad to see how many people’s experiences are ruined,” she captioned her TikTok video.
Lexi Rodriguez revealed that her reluctance toward becoming a coach stems from a similar concern. “I want to coach someday… But I would never want to ruin someone’s love for volleyball,” the defensive specialist added in the closed caption while sipping on a chocolate drink in the clip. The response from Rodriguez’s followers was mixed too.

While some explained they love to train under the LOVB Omaha star, others recounted their harrowing experience. “My daughter quit this year for this exact reason. Quality coaching is an art,” one fan commented. However, Rodriguez herself has trained with some of the best coaches in the business.
What’s your perspective on:
Is Lexi Rodriguez's delayed debut a strategic move, or is Omaha missing out on her talent?
Have an interesting take?
From John Cook to now teammate Jordan Larson, Rodriguez has seen the highest quality of volleyball coaching. However, even if Lexi Rodriguez does get into coaching, it won’t be anytime soon. Instead, she’s just started out as a rookie pro. Hence, the question of the hour is: When will the Libero debut of LOVB Omaha?
The Libero’s debut hiccup
Lexi Rodriguez’s pro debut has been a cycle of anticipation and disappointment for the fans. LOVB Omaha started their campaign in League One Volleyball’s inaugural season on January 11. Fans grew excited as the date neared to see the Nebraska Husker stars debut in LOVB Omaha’s colors. However, the day came and went, and Rodriguez didn’t even feature as a substitute.

Since then, Omaha has played three more games in the LOVB, with their latest out resulting in a shocking loss on home ground. Fans who had placed their bets to see Lexi Rodriguez finally make her debut at the Liberty First Credit Union Arena were once again left scratching their heads. The defensive specialist didn’t feature even when Austin swept the home team on January 26.
Now fans are confused. While LOVB Omaha will travel to Atlanta on February 2, there’s no guarantee that Rodriguez will finally break cover. For their first four matches, Omaha has continued to prefer Justine Wong-Orantes as their libero. While Rodriguez did break Wong-Orantes’ dig record at Omaha, her senior digger has Olympic gold and years of experience. So while the 23-year-old’s debut remains anyone’s guess, at least their favorite players continue to interact through social media.
