Valentina Shevchenko is hot off her annihilating win over Katlyn Chookagian at UFC 247 and she’s already looking for her next victim. She’s ready to go this June 6th at UFC 251 and the speculations are she might take on Joanne Calderwood.

Joanne is ranked 3rd in the flyweight category. Valentina is coming off 3 successful title defenses and there isn’t anyone right now likely to stop this run. She practically owns the flyweight division and can have whoever she wants.

Joanne is 1-1 in her last 2 fights and the win was by split decision. Some might say she isn’t ready for this big contest. She has yet to prove her mantel and running straight up to the champ isn’t the right move. But again, who else is left for Valentina to face? She has outright torn every single one of her previous opponents apart. Her other wins at flyweight since returning to the weight class permanently in 2018 have come against Kalindra Faria and Ariane Lipski.

This is actually a great match if it is to happen. They both have similar fighting styles and also the same reach. Joanne just has an inch worth of advantage when it comes to heir height.
It’s hard right now to place any of the flyweight fighters up against Valentine. If anyone is remotely close to the task, it has to be Joanne. Joanne even on her best day might fall short but this bout will definitely prove to be a good challenge for Valentina. In spite of her loss to Chookagian, Joanne bounced back and how.

Valentina right now is at her absolute peak and the undisputed best. She is dominating every single contender in the division. Will Joanne Calderwood be a tough challenge for the Bullet or will she be yet another victim?
