The second major update patch for Valorant Act 3 is here. The first update patch for this Act’s patch cycle introduced the new map Icebox, along with a lot of miscellaneous changes. The official patch notes for the previous update mentioned that Riot had originally planned on releasing the new agent alongside Icebox. However, they decided otherwise, to keep the update considerably light.

This current 1.11 update patch finally introduced the new agent, Skye. The community already knows more or less all there is to know about this agent and her abilities from the data miners and Riot’s official announcement. However, that is not all that is new in this update.

Devs have made some changes to the abilities of other agents. Riot Games said in their official patch notes, that this is being done to prepare for ‘First Strike’, the first major global championship for the game.

“With First Strike on the horizon, the balance team has been hard at work making our last round of major balance changes before teams start duking it out. We want to ensure that the top teams don’t have to constantly adapt to a changing game while they’re playing in the tournament.

“Minor balance changes may occur during the span of First Strike, but we won’t deploy changes like the ones in this patch that heavily impact a team’s strategies.”

This new agent has the force of nature to aid her. We have already spoken at length about her abilities. She can play both as a fragger as well as support because of her hybrid abilities. She is well-equipped with recon abilities besides precisely blinding the opponent while doing so.

Her ability to regenerate her own health could prove to be a game-changer, making her an indispensable agent. She will be available in the competitive queue right away. As for official eSports tourneys like the ‘First Strike’, Skye will be available to players after two weeks in Competitive.

Riot Games has already explained why tuning the other agents was necessary before the global tourney begins. Here is a list of the changes that devs made:

  • They have increased the full flash time of Breach’s blinding ability from 1.75 to 2.
  • Cypher’s death will now disable his tripwire and spycam while revealing its position.
  • Killjoy’s alarmbot and Turret will deactivate if she is more than 40m away from them. They will activate once again if she re-enters the 40m radius.
  • Devs have reduced the cooldown on her turret from 20 seconds to 10 seconds. Enemies can now detect the alarmbot from 7m away and devs have also reduced the cooldown time after picking it up to 7 seconds.

Riot has already added Icebox to competitive Valorant queue with this update. However, the patch notes say nothing about fixing the glitch that players found on the map. Perhaps they will fix it in the upcoming updates in the current patch cycle.
