Valorant is a relatively fresh game on the table of potential eSports. Its ‘bomb-scenario’ centric gameplay and agent abilities, sets the game apart from the ‘bomb-scenario’ gameplay of more classic FPS games, like CS: GO.

Although Valorant is a team game, there are times when things don’t go according to plan. So the players who can manage to put on a one-person show and carry out the end objective stand a chance to become a pro at this. In this article, we will be talking about one such aspect: Ninja Defuse.

This is not a Valorant WikiHow, but you can use these tips

For those who don’t know, ninja defuse is a technique in bomb-scenarios (not in real life), where you use extreme stealth and defuse the bomb without the opponents noticing. Trivia: I guess term first came up back in 2005 when SpawN from team SK tried to pull this off against Ninjas in Pyjamas and couldn’t make it within the nick of time he was short of 0.15s).

Now, let us get right to it. Your chances of being able to pull off a ninja defuse depend first and foremost on your agent, since Valorant is ability-based to some extent. The choice is yours, but we would recommend you choose agents that have the ability to blind the enemy or shield yourself from them. To be safe, Brimstone and Jett can be a good choice.

Remember to keep your blinding abilities at full charge as well as the other necessary abilities, depending on your agent. Remember, your meta right now would be that of defending. We can’t stress this enough: Do not engage. Do not pick up a fight unless absolutely necessary.

Finding a blind spot is important. The maps in Valorant are more enclosed, and so are the spike-planting regions. Extreme stealth mode is the order of the day. Now there are multiple ways to go about this. If a player is planting the spike alone, what you can do is tail the player silently while being in his/her blind spot and immediately defuse it while they find a place to camp. This is something the streamer WaterHouse does. But this one depends on a bit of luck as well.

If you are the last player standing, and the opponent team is aiming for a flawless victory, we recommend you hold it off for a while (preferably hide at the other planting site, but close to the nearest route to the spike site). The opponent will inevitably come for you. It is at this moment that you be on the move. Do not put up a show or give away your position. You can misguide your opponent or distract them, but be careful so that you don’t accidentally mess this up. Once at the site, if you see an opponent, steal their sight (Omen can be a good option) and get to it. Or, if possible, just silently defuse the spike without inviting attention. In short, don’t do anything that will bring the rest of the players back to the site. Above all, try to be extremely quick and get the job done like a ghost.

That is somewhat of a skeletal guide to ninja defuses stemming from personal experiences and watching pro players. You can add more details, ask questions, and add your insights regarding ninja defuses in the game. We might talk about other tricks and tips too, so just keep an eye out. Go clutch ’em tiger!
