The Valorant beta has taken the spotlight in the gaming industry. The closed beta, streamed by many popular gamers, garnered an eye-popping viewership with around 1.7 million concurrent spectators at one point.
Summit1g was one of the streamers who brought in a large number of views. While he enjoyed the game in general, there was one issue he simply could not live with.

Valorant boasted of a roster of nine characters initially. However, Riot Games added a tenth character named Raze once the beta went live. The more the merrier, right?
Not so much for summit1g.

Before we get into summit1g’s issues, let’s take a look at what the new character was all about.
In the simplest of terms, Raze is the explosives expert on Valorant. She carries with her grenades, a rocket launcher and even a robot on wheels (picture a Roomba) that explodes!
Think Junkrat from Overwatch just to get an idea, but trust me, they’re not all too similar.
Sounds cool, looks cool, right? So what’s summit1g’s beef with her?
He thinks she is way over-powered. Summit1g doesn’t want Riot Games to nerf her down, he wants them to get rid of her completely.
The Valorant developers played against seasoned gamers like summit1g, Ska, Shroud and others, and it wasn’t even close. The gamers lost 13-3, 13-5 and 13-2.
To put matters into perspective, though, many of the developers are former professional gamers too so it isn’t all too bad.

While summit1g was no doubt disappointed to lose so comprehensively, his biggest issue, as we mentioned above, was Raze.
Trying my best not to salt everywhere on Valorant. Not sure how a rocket character even made it into beta or as a character design at all. Every single ability is kill someone ability. So much for mostly utility type use.

Hilariously, before they began their match against the devs, summit1g was confident his team couldn’t be beaten.

And just a few minutes ago, summit1g had to concede.
The devs stood a chance.

Game Director responds
Many players who have played the beta want Raze to be toned down. Some are even asking the character be removed altogether.

Picking out issues with a game is exactly what betas are for. Riot Games will surely look into it and make some changes that will satisfy majority of the community.
The Game Director responded to summit1g’s comments, assuring him that the developers were working on it.
Hey summit, I totally understand, some things in there were super tilting and it was a rough game. We’re looking across the board at all the agents right now to figure out how to get them in the right place so we’ll take a look at Raze too, don’t worry. Thanks for the games :).
