He also highlighted the integral role Venus Williams, Serena’s sister, played in the 23-time Grand Slam champion’s journey. He said, “Her and her sister [Venus] pushing each other as well. Even if she’s the greatest, it would be hard for me to say Serena without mentioning Venus.” The Williams sisters’ story is symbolic of the determination, courage, and excellence black women have demonstrated throughout history.
