American star Venus Williams has been very successful in tennis. She has won 7 Grand Slams and 49 WTA titles which are absolutely amazing. While these achievements are amazing, they are not enough to be called the greatest. But in a recent talk with Tennis Majors, she admitted that was not her goal.

She said that she is not looking to be remembered as the greatest as she is very spiritual. She believes that there is an even better life after tennis so she is not worried at all. This prompted the question – is that the difference between her and Serena as she wants to be the greatest? Check out Venus’ reply.

Venus Williams On Her Sister

When asked about whether Serena is different because she wants to be the greatest, Venus replied by saying,

“She might be closer than I am but I think she feels the same way. When you have a higher goal than just being the greatest, it puts your perspective there. And this is just like work, it really is just work.”

While Venus says that Serena’s goal is not to be the greatest tennis player, Serena would probably like to earn that title. And like Venus says, She is very close to doing exactly that.

To become the GOAT, Serena has to hold the record for the most Grand Slam titles. She has 23 which is just one short of Margaret Court’s all-time record of 24. She is definitely going to want to win at least one more Grand Slam to equal this record.

While Serena will certainly be looking for that one Major, so will Venus. She hasn’t been able to win a Grand Slam since 2008 which is why she will like to hold the trophy once again.

We have seen the Serena and Venus Williams win so many titles throughout their careers. And I am sure everyone will be hoping that they will win more when the WTA Tour returns from its suspension.
