The seven-time Grand Slam champion, Venus Williams settled her traffic collision which took place in Florida in June 2017. Williams was driving the car and she crashed into a man who later died. The 78-year-old Jerome Barson’s family lodged a wrongful death suit against the WTA tennis player.

The police report says, Barson’s wife, Linda tried to cross a busy six-lane highway near her home. Linda’s sedan slammed into the passenger side of Williams’ SUV as Linda lost control. Linda suffered a broken arm and other injuries and her husband was badly injured. The lawsuit stated on Barson’s injuries, “severed main arteries, massive internal bleeding, a fractured spine, and massive internal organ damage.” Palm Beach County court records show that the case was closed last Friday. “Based upon this investigation and relevant Florida state statutes, no charges will be filed in this case,” the report said.

The police did not file any charges against Williams and also for the driver of another car. The settlement which was revealed last week states that both parties will pay their own attorneys’ fees. Barson’s wife was driving the car and he was seated on the passenger’s seat. Barson suffered severe injuries and died two weeks later. The American broke out when she was questioned about this dilemma. “There are really no words to describe, like, how devastating and — yeah. I’m completely speechless,” the World Number 39, Williams said.
