Veteran Ivo Karlovic and British Teenager Emma Raducanu Lead the List of Qualifiers at US Open 2021

It’s time for the final Grand Slam event of the year, and players are all set to compete at the US Open 2021. It is one of the most looked forwarded tournaments on the Tour, held in the city of New York. 

As the US Open 2021 begins today, we take a look at the players who have qualified for the final Grand Slam event of the season. In the men’s, it was veteran player Ivo Karlovic, who has made it to the main draw for the 17th time in his career. Besides him, the German player Oscar Otte qualified for the main event too.

British teenager makes it to the main draw at the US Open 2021

In women’s, British teenager Emma Raducanu qualified for the US Open for the first time in her career. She did receive good reception when she made it to the second week at the Wimbledon Championships this season. Australian tennis player Astra Sharma has made it to the main draw for the third time in her career at Flushing Meadows. 

The US Open 2021 begins on the 30th of August and will go on till the 12th of September. However, this year the event won’t be graced by the legendary figures, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Sadly, defending champion Dominic Thiem was the latest player to join the list of absentees.

However, big names such as Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev will be seen competing for the ultimate prize. In the women’s competition, defending champion Naomi Osaka and World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty will be the star names.

Also, 23-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams has decided to skip the final Grand Slam event this season. We wish all the players the best of luck and may the best player emerge as the champion in the end.
