55-Year-Old Ohio Native Sets World Record for Largest GPS Drawing Made by Cycling

Cycling requires physical standards that can make most professional athletes insecure So when this Ohio native rode his bicycle miles across the United States, and mapped the entire journey, it became a national story. The Herculean task is no mean feat. To have the cardiovascular strength and endurance to keep peddling, irrespective of weather conditions is the stuff of legends.

This 55-year-old Ohio native has now set a new record in the Guinness Book of World Records. He rode 982.53 miles mapping the boundaries of Nebraska, Minnesota, and South Dakota. This is also being considered the largest GPS drawing of any place made by a cyclist.

Traveling for a few miles can be sustained by a normal individual. However, when it comes to traveling 982 miles, it is a different ball game. David Schweikert, who has been a face to long rides before is utterly delighted to have completed this particular mission.

Covering the three borders, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Minnesota, can be a test of someone’s physical and mental endurance. David took seven days to complete this long and exhilarating journey. But do you know why he did this?

The reason for this extraordinary ride is to raise funds for a charity. The World Bike Alleviation is a non-profit organization that works for the betterment of youth in developing countries. Attaining this extraordinary achievement is one happiness, but raising charity for the betterment of upcoming cyclists is a happiness of a different kind.

David Schweikart, a man of true grit

David Schweikart has been on a 636-mile cycling journey that included a group of four French cyclists. This 55-year-old Ohio native also holds an impressive record where he cycled for nearly 17,000 miles in the yearbook of 2020.

A solo ride of 3600 miles across the United States has also been recorded under his name, which he covered in 28 days. This world record holder cyclist has his name in the world record of spin class as well. Sounds extraordinary, right?

There is another Guinness world record under David’s name where he was a part of a group of 24 athletes. These athletes held the world record for the longest spin class and the time for the record is 28 hours.

While the other records are official to his name, this record is yet to be finalized as the final documentation is in order, but the approval from the Guinness World Record Community is yet to be processed. The day the Guinness community moved forward with the record. It would be a sign of relief and a smile for completing a charity dream will be on Schweikart’s face.
