After a Career-Best Season, 27-Year-Old Belgian Cyclist Is Crowned ‘Best Woman Cyclist’ and Says, ‘This Could Have Been the Best Year of My Career’

Belgium’s very own women’s cyclist, Lotte Kopecky, added another trophy to her cabinet. As a cyclist, Lotte is one of the most versatile riders of the modern time. However, her fitness and consistency in races is also worth looking into. She won the award for the best women’s cyclist for the fourth year running. The Belgian superstar dominated this year and won three big races.

Last year, Kopecky participated in 40 road races and finished outside top 10 in only six of them. Hopefully, she can continue her form for the entire year.

Lotte won the races at the World Championships Road Race, The Tour of Flanders and Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. She also led Belgium to two World Titles on the track. The 27-year-old cyclist dominated the World Championship Race this season. She won the race in Glasgow and reclaimed her throne as the best women’s cyclist in the world at the moment.

However, the victory is more special because she won it against the mighty Dutch Team. While speaking to Cyclingnews, Kopecky shared her thoughts regarding the wins.

“The World Championship is my highlight,” said Kopecky. “It stands head and shoulders above the rest. A World Championships title is what you dream about as a rider for your entire career.”

I realize very well that this could have been the best year of my career. It will be very difficult to top this,” admitted the Belgian. However, that doesn’t make her complacent.

The Queen of the classics and the 2024 Olympic Races are the most important races for her and the preparation has already begun.

“Paris-Roubaix is still on my list. I have something to make up for there,” said Kopecky. “The Olympic Games in Paris are also a big goal. That may be the biggest difference from last year: my goals will come later in the season.

The Cyclist to Watch Out for in 2024

Lotte dominated the races in 2022 and 2023 and proved to the world that she was the best.

However, the 2024 Olympic Games are a different race altogether. Cyclists from different parts of the world will look to beat her and reclaim the number 1 spot. Also, the cyclist will look to maintain her form for the remaining part of the 2023 season.

Lotte Kopecky is a modern era legend of cycling. She not only won medals for her country, but has motivated many young girls as well. Hopefully, she can repeat her performances in the 2024 games.
