The Asiad witnessed Japan’s cycling team maintaining their exceptional performance, securing three more gold medals in the championship. This brings the total tally of gold medals awarded so far to eight. Remarkably, Japan has clinched an impressive seven out of these eight gold medals.

The only gold medal that the team lost was against China on Tuesday. Japan is dominating the event both in men’s and women’s cycling. Athletes from different parts of the world are competing in the event. The Japanese team aims to secure additional gold medals before the event concludes.

The Dominance of the Japan’s Cycling Team

In the women’s event, the Japanese pair of Maho Kakita and Tsuyaka Uchino showed tremendous teamwork. Both of them won the gold medal with  50 points. However, they maintained a 10-point lead over second-placed Hong Kong. Chinese pair of Lee Sze Wing and Yang Qianyu along with the Korean pair of Lee-Ju Mmi and Na Ah Reum won the bronze medal.

In the men’s event, the Japanese cyclist, Kaiya Ota dominated the competition and won the gold medal. He won the gold medal in the sprinting competition. “Looking back on my races, I got great support from everyone around me. And in training I worked very hard for this race,” Ota shared. “Tomorrow it’s the Keirin race. That will be a special moment. I will try my best.”

In the men’s Omnium competition, Japanese cyclist Kazushige Kuboki won the gold medal with 178 points. Leung Ka Yu of Hong Kong, China won the silver medal with 143 points, and Ahmed Almansoori of the United Arab Emirates won the bronze medal after securing 131 points.

Rise of Japan as a Cycling Nation

Japan as a country is taking giant steps in the cycling field. However, Japan does very well in other sports, like athletics and soccer. Cycling is something that they have taken seriously. In the recently concluded event, they have dominated the entire event. Beating the likes of China is not very easy, and they managed to do it convincingly.
