At the age of 6, Aviendha “Avie” Durrant evinces her ambitious dreams as she embarks on an inspiring journey from amateur to semi-pro sports. Introduced to golf by her father, the multi-talented athlete wishes to pursue this sport in the future.

Not having much experience at a tender age, Avie refused to give up on her aspirations. Let us delve deep into this article to explore the varied passions that motivate her to move forward.

Avie’s prospering and extraordinary performance among adult competitors

At just 4 years old, her inauguration to the world of sports started with disc golf, also known as frisbee golf. Gradually, she kept on harnessing skills followed by her growing enthusiasm towards the sport. When she turned 6 years she made her tournament debut, however, she failed to grab the prize. But she refused to surrender so early and tried again at the age of 10 and now against competitors who were far beyond her age.

In the prestigious event held in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Avie created world records by securing a place in a rigorously competitive environment. With these victories, she continued to climb the ranking order in the Professional Golf Association. However, physical restrictions and other challenges continued to impede the journey. As reported to The Observer, Avie said, “ I was having problems with my ankle, wrist and neck. I also wanted to focus on my grades, but I really miss the tournaments and all the friends I made while playing.”

Avie is all set to explore the new chapter of cheerleading

As a student in the senior year at La Grande High School, Avie has set her future goals to make a triumphant return to disc golf. She has secured a remarkable position as of one the members of the new cheerleading team of the school. While returning to golf ranks as her short-term goal, professionally in the long run she wishes to excel either in the medical field or finance. Besides, Avie continues to manifest her fierce spirit by traversing ambiguous areas and trying new experiences.  

Having no prior experience in cheerleading, she excitedly plans to take part in cheerleading. Being aware of the basic difference, that cheer revolves around performance while golf is about actual playing reveals her sincerity in anything she performs. Besides, golf and cheerleading, she fiddled between different sports like volleyball, basketball and soccer. Having a background in dance, Avie pursued her avidness towards creativity.

Her journey in the pursuit of her dreams did not restrict Avie to one sport and exposed her to multi-faceted experiences catering to comprehensive development. She with her resilience in overcoming injuries and prioritizing her studies at the moment, sets an ideal example for the future generation to combine passions in sport and academics.
