While these high-stake racing ventures exhibit chilling stunts, a recent unexpected twist took center stage during practice sessions for the Thai Grand Prix. As the sun-drenched Buriram circuit hosted riders from around the globe, a shocking mishap involving mechanical issues left the audience gasping for air.

With the championship gap narrowing, Jorge Martin,  faced a moment of reckoning after a part of his bike broke and flew off. The vehicle part fell out, and continued moving in accordance with Newtonian laws of motion.  This was a danger to riders behind him. It became even more evident after another racer was hit with it within moments leading to a tragic fall. While Martin was initially unaware of his bike’s condition, little did he expect that the eerie incident would set the stage for a dramatic turn of events.

The Pramac Ducati rider had entered the Thai MotoGP event trailing Francesco Bagnaia, the factory Ducati counterpart. The difference was a mere 27-point gap in the championship standings, as Martin emerged as the fastest, clocking an impressive 1 minute and 29.826s. The practice racing season had less than half a second separating the top 18 riders when the accident unfolded at Turn 3.

However, despite this setback, Martin still managed to walk away unscathed, leaving the racing fans breathless. But it was the damage to the bike that made headlines, as it halted the prospects of another racer, Marc Marquez. Riding for Repsol Honda, Marquez began chasing Martin for a tow, but to his misfortune, the crash intercepted his path to glory. Consequently, the player was seen flipping away from his bike as the track got crowded with other racers passing by.

Vehicular damage causes tragic fall

As per reports, a piece of aero had broken off Martin’s Desmosedici as it flew off and struck Marquez on the shoulder. The shock of the incident was palpable, with the racer’s initial reaction indicating the pain he felt. During an exchange later, Marquez mentioned, “At that time it was painful, and for the next two minutes it was painful”. Nonetheless, he continued with the ride, as the pro racing star later emphasized the importance of persistence, stating, “It was no limitation for the time attack.”
