Owing to its popularity and fame, the McLaren F1 car has acquired the annual Ring of Lights Sweepstakes award that facilitates the best decoration in Jeff’s Moorad’s paddock. In an interview with the Orange County Register, Moorad who is the CEO of a sports equity firm known as MSP Sports Capital shared his joy about the craze featuring the F1 car.

He said, “In retrospect, I couldn’t be more pleased that we were able to share an experience like this with so many in Southern California. There’s no way that I could have anticipated the fanfare that has occurred, but I think it’s all indicative of an incredibly popular sport, especially in the U.S. at this stage of its history.” Hence, the sports car as a point of attraction has provided the community of Southern California with an unexpected experience. 

Unique blend of motorsports and festivity

Besides the general public, the Formula One car has drawn enthusiastic motorsport aficionados like Jakob Barba. Journeying from Hollywood, the actor made it all the way to get a close-up encounter with the iconic racing machine. His sentiments echo the sentiments of the extended family of admirers who share an interest in motorsports.

The decision to install the Formula One car was made by Moorad who then sought the help of a crane to place it at the bayfront estates during the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade. With this move, he introduced the sports car to the local community, gaining overwhelming foot traffic and social media attraction. 

Amidst festive fervor, as the McLaren team’s 2023 F1 season comes to an end, in spite of making a staggered start, the team bagged the fourth position while Norris took the commendable sixth place. McLaren’s successful campaign has been orchestrated with the recognition of Oscar Piastri as the sport’s Rookie of the Year.
