You’d think being a Hollywood juggernaut is easy. You have virtually unlimited money, millions of adoring fans, the option to do basically anything with your week, month, or even year – essentially total control. However, “total” control can never be absolute. No matter how big you are, there’s almost always someone bigger than you. Besides, total autonomy does not live up to its billing simply because of a “wrong place, wrong time” situation.
Sports games are one of the best venues to see the shift in such power dynamics, with multimillionaire athletes constantly getting hounded by fans. However, they’re not the only multimillionaires likely to get yelled at when there are several elite members watching eagerly from the sidelines.
One such shift in the dynamic was observed when actor Matt Damon attended the Lakers-Celtics NBA game with his friend and actor Mark Wahlberg.

Matt Damon Recalls the Incident
Matt Damon once shared an experience he had during the 2008 NBA finals game that resulted in him getting yelled at by the Lakers’ former head coach Phil Jackson. While regaling the incident, Damon explained how he and Wahlberg – ardent Boston fans – were really excited in attendance for the big game.
Damon claimed that he and his acting peer were simply high on enthusiasm and cheering for the Celtics. However, eventually, Lakers’ boss Jackson lost his mind at them, saying, “Sit down and shut the f*ck up.” Damon believed that the rage directed at them was fuelled by Jackson seeing them cheering on the Celtics’ comeback, resulting in the eventual outburst.
Damon explained, “We had been down like, 23 points in the third quarter, and we’d come back and won.” He claimed that this situation had already infuriated Phil Jackson.

How the Episode Ended
Damon said the Celtics’ comeback was on, and the Lakers were hemorrhaging points. This prompted Jackson to call a timeout to assess the damage and strategize with his team. However, Paul Pierce had already laid the ball in the comeback had been completed, sending Jackson into a fit.
“Wahlberg and I are like ‘Oh my God!’ and he calls the timeout, he just spins on us and goes, ‘Sit down and shut the f*CK up!’ He was so mad,” Damon said. He also added that the Celtics ended up winning the game, which further annoyed Phil Jackson.
