This racing is generally considered to be one of the safest forms of racing. However, a recent tragic incident, where two people lost their lives, has left a dark shadow over the event.

Tragic Incident at the ProSolo Event

The tragedy struck at a recent ProSolo event hosted by the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). The ProSolo format, with its drag race-style start and mirrored courses, adds an extra layer of intensity to the car race competition. But Amber Dawn Jorgensen and Des Toups lost their lives during this event at the former Hampton Mills facility in Packwood, WA.

Amber Jorgensen and Des Toups were the two drivers killed in the horrific accident. Amber, a four-year SCCA member from the Snake River Region, was a highly respected figure in her local Solo community. She led her region’s E Street points championship and held an impressive fourth place in the overall PAX championship.

On the other hand, Toups was renowned for his versatility in various vehicle classes. He had an illustrious racing career, making 14 appearances at the Solo National Championships and earning two trophies for his exceptional performances. He was a 20-year member of the SCCA and belonged to Northwest region.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are still unclear. The SCCA has not disclosed whether the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash survived. The cause of the accident also remains a subject of speculation. Some competitors have raised the possibility of brake failure, while others suggest a medical issue may have occurred.
