The Golden State Warriors are preparing for the 2020-21 NBA season and are on the lookout to sign new players. The Dubs are searching for NBA G-League prospects that sit without contracts right now.
According to NBC Sports, five players attended the voluntary minicamp for the Warriors on Thursday. Of those players, 31-year-old Jonathon Simmons impressed head coach Steve Kerr. Simmons, who has already played in the NBA for five years, could be a great fit for the Warriors.
Steve Kerr’s Warriors are in need of a true small forward to clock minutes when Andrew Wiggins rests. Simmons has also spent some time with the Santa Cruz Warriors (Warriors’ G-league team) and Kerr would be happy to recruit such talent to his team.

Steve Kerr: "Jonathon Simmons has had a good week of camp and still has years to offer in the NBA, in my opinion." As a fit with Warriors? Kerr: "Possibly. We could use the length on the wing."

Signing Jonathon Simmons will make sense for the Dubs from a financial point of view as well. They currently don’t have much flexibility to sign big name role-players. However, there is still a long way to go for the 2020-21 NBA season to begin.
In the meantime, the Dubs can scout a lot of talented players. They can also use the #2 pick for drafting a young prospect according to their needs. On the other hand, they can also use it to trade for a few role-players. It all depends on the front office’s approach in the off-season.
