Czech tennis player Karolina Pliskova was in the news recently for her performance in the Wimbledon Championships 2021 final. Unfortunately, she ended up on the losing side. It was the World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty won lifted her second Grand Slam title.

Recently, journalists Steve Flink and Ubaldo Scanagatta spoke on the women’s final at the All England Club. They were focusing particularly on Karolina Pliskova’s performance. She started on a poor note but eventually did get involved in the match and didn’t let it look like a one-sided contest.

The journalist stated, “I think Pliskova did a great job to overcome Sabalenka in three sets, that was a really good win for her, she served beautifully. In the final, Ash seemed to have control there. I was also glad that Pliskova who couldn’t win a point for three and a half games was terrible. Finally, she woke up and made the first set competitive.”

Karolina Pliskova regrouped to put up a contest 

They praised the Czech star for her job in the semifinal. However, the fact that she could overcome her struggles in the initial part of the finals was commendable. She managed to win the second set and send the match into the deciding final set. In the end, the on break was enough in the final set to seal it for the Australian player.

The journalist further added, “Despite being a breakdown early, she managed to come back in the second despite Ash serving for the match at 6-5 and couldn’t close it and then a good tiebreak from Pliskova. I thought we got a good clean third set that just came down to that one break from Barty.”
