It is the last month of 2020, and players have already started their 2021 preparation. The off-season began a few weeks back, and now players are back in the gyms and on tennis courts to start their training.
ATP Finals 2020 champ Daniil Medvedev has started his preseason training. The Russian begins his preseason after ending the season with a 10 match winning streak. During the streak, Medvedev won the Paris Masters and the ATP Finals. The Russian is seen doing the Bulgarian split squats in the below video.
US Open 2019 champ Bianca Andreescu is having one of the toughest training regimes during this offseason. She is currently training at the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy. In a video posted by the Mouratoglou academy, Andreescu was seen working on her hands, legs and her balance.
Perhaps this offseason training is very important for Andreescu. The Canadian is yet to play a professional match since getting injured during the 2019 WTA Finals. Though she had recovered from the knee injury, the pandemic break kicked in at the wrong point for her.
Andreescu couldn’t practice due to the lockdown and lacked match practice. Thus, she never reached the desired fitness to play the bigger tournaments in the latter part of 2020. All eyes will be on her comeback in the 2021 Australian Open.
Next up is Elina Svitolina, who posted an update about her preseason workout. The Ukrainian posted a picture on Instagram showing her workout. Svitolina had a good 2020 season as she won two titles and again ended the season in the top 5 of the WTA rankings. She will look to finally make it through and win a Grand Slam in 2021.
19-year-old Amanda Anisimova is on the tennis court under the sun doing the preseason training. The American posted a video yesterday showing the magnitude at which she was preparing for the 2021 season. The highlight of her workout video was her movement and agility. Since she likes to play from the baseline, an improvement in her movement will help her further.
Doubles World No. 3 Kristina Mladenovic is practicing in Dubai. She is preparing rigorously for the 2021 season. Her intensity is visible as she is lifting weights and ropes with great determination and coordination. She also tried new things in her workout by playing foot volleyball to help her legs. Mladenovic is working hard as she will be defending her doubles crown in the coming 2021 Australian Open.
