Fans offer support for Iga Swiatek

A clip has surfaced in which the fans were chanting her name: “Iga!” It was a nice reaction from the crowd, as the Polish player had ended up on the losing side in a match that could have gone in either player’s favor.

She was in the second group stage match against World No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka. As the match began, Swiatek turned the opening set in her favor and established a firm grip on the match.

However, the Belarusian player regrouped herself and found a way to open her account in the match, claiming the second set with ease. The match had to be decided in the final set and both players were giving all they had in the tank.

When it came to the crunch moments in the match, it was the Belarusian player who managed to get the better of her opponent. Eventually, Aryna won the set 7-5.

A poor run in Mexico

Prior to that match, Iga was up against Sakkari. Unfortunately, she lost in straight sets. Due to these two losses, Polish won’t be able to make it to the semifinal.

Reflecting on the season, Swiatek was expected to repeat the amazing performance from last year in Roland Garros this year. However, she lost in the quarterfinal and was unable to defend her title in Paris.

We wish her the very best for the upcoming 2022 season.
