Gael Monfils gave Team France and himself an incredible kickstart into 2020. Monfils defeated Chilean Cristian Garin 6-3, 7-5 in a rather comfortable match for the French number 1.

Ultimately, the French won the tie 2-1 with Benoit Paire getting another point for his team.

After winning the first set 6-4, Monfils was tied at 4-4 with Garin in the second set with the latter serving. In what seemed like a pretty easy point for Christian Garin, Monfils snatched it from under his nose.
