It looks like this year’s Winter Olympics has turned into a nightmare for Mikaela Shiffrin. After her disqualification from the giant slalom, she was determined to get back up.

But on February 9th, during the slalom, Shiffrin lost control once again and crashed as soon as she started. This was devastating for the world champion because she couldn’t have anticipated that she would crash out of her two most important events.

The clearly broken Mikaela was then bombarded with question after question by the media houses following her exit. Holding back tears, she answered these questions, revealing that her performance made her second guess everything.

Exit from slalom leaves Shiffrin devastated

Right after she began the race. Mikaela Shiffrin crashed down the slope. The athlete was devastated and screamed in frustration. It was a very sad scene as fans watched her sitting on the side of the slope, clearly stricken with emotion.

However, it was more heartbreaking to watch the brave athlete stand up and give interviews as reporters fired her with questions. Mikaela revealed that she had originally planned to go full force into the race, but somehow things didn’t turn out well for her in the end.

“I had every intention to go full gas,” said Shiffrin, clearly breaking down. The slalom event was Shiffrin’s area of expertise and she was a gold medal prospect. All eyes were on her, and she was hoping to make it to the top of the scoreboard. But unfortunately, the star skier suffered through a really bad crash.

Shiffrin, who has been skiing since before she can remember, second-guessed her entire career because of this incident.

“This makes me second-guess, like, the last 15 years, everything I thought I knew about my own skiing, in slalom, and my own racing mentality.” said Mikaela.

Moreover, all the months of training were all she could recall today as she sat with her head hidden in her arms.

Fans poured in love for their star skier from all over the world, as the athlete was going through the worst day of her professional life. They also condemned the media houses, who did not leave Shiffrin alone for a minute.

They asked the media houses to leave her alone. Clearly, Mikaela was overwhelmed and answered the questions with great difficulty.

Fans have also asked her to be kind to herself. Rightly so, if Mikaela is hard on herself, she will not be able to focus on her other events. The 26-year-old now has 3 more events ahead of her. She needs to take some time for herself and pick herself up. Hopefully, she gets the space to do that.
