Facing a win-or-go-home situation in Game 5, the Houston Astros produced an exceptional comeback to beat the Atlanta Braves. However, they couldn’t produce the same performance in Game 6 as they lost in stunning fashion to see another bid for the World Series end in heartbreak.

Although they played Tuesday’s game in the Minute Maid Park, they couldn’t feed off the energy of their fans to keep the series alive. In fact, the Braves looked so dominant, that Astros fans couldn’t watch anymore after a point in time.

Needing a win to force Game 7, the Astros failed to make the start they needed to keep their hopes alive. In the top of the third inning, Jorge Soler, who won the World Series MVP after the game, smashed a monstrous three-run home run off Luis Garcia’s 83mph pitch to give the Braves an early 3-0 lead.

Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson added more salt to the Astros’ wounds in the top of the fifth inning. The 27-year-old smashed a 95mph pitch off Cristian Javier straight into the stands for a two-run home run to increase their lead. Shortly after, Freddie Freeman, who is yet to decide on his future with the Braves, drove Soler home with an RBI.

Although the Braves didn’t score any runs in the top of the sixth, Astros fans lost all hope and belief of a comeback from their team. During the bottom of the sixth inning, they had seen enough and headed for the exits to add more misery to the AL Pennant winners’ night.

The fans who left may have breathed a sigh of relief because Freeman added a solo home run in the top of the seventh to extend the Braves’ lead to 7-0. Ultimately, Game 6 finished with this scoreline, leaving the Astros to try again next season.

Now a free agent, rumors of him joining the New York Yankees grow stronger by the minute. Along with Correa, they could also lose players like Martin Maldonado and Justin Verlander, who are also free agents.
