WATCH: How Gears 5 Will Perform on 4K on the Next-Gen Xbox Series X

Fans argue that the Xbox Series X might be the most powerful console yet, and it would seem so on paper. Naturally, they expect it to deliver an enhanced and efficient performance, especially while running heavy games.

A lot of development studios want to take advantage of the launch of next-gen consoles. Therefore, while some are releasing new titles, the rest want to make their games compatible with these consoles. Moreover, they want to ensure that these new versions adequately use all the features that come along with the console upgrade.

One of these is the FPS game Gears 5. Gears 5 is an Xbox exclusive and will be a part of the launch lineup for Series X|S. Digital Foundry recently made a video summarizing all the changes that will come to the game on the Series X.

Gears 5 will have dynamic 4K/60FPS and 120FPS mode on Xbox Series X

In terms of enhancements, the biggest boost that the extra power of the Series X delivers is in terms of graphics. Firstly, the game will run on a dynamic 4K resolution. While running on 4K, the game will also deliver a stable frame rate of 60FPS.

On lower resolutions, the game will even run on 120 frames per second. Therefore, those who cannot afford a 4K display can enjoy the game in 120FPS.

Another major visual enhancement comes to the shadows and the textures. The player and object shadows will look much smoother and realistic. Moreover, the textures will also be extremely smooth and load faster as well.

An important part of FPS games is the latency to ensure the bullets don’t take long to register. The developers will use the hardware of the Series X to ensure a significant reduction in the latency. Moreover, they will also reduce the loading time between screens by about 80%.

Gears 5 is only one of the enhanced games that will be part of the Xbox launch lineup. A majority of the games in the lineup have similar features.
