WATCH: How Novak Djokovic Celebrates Victory with his Family at US Open 2020

Novak Djokovic had to dig deep to reach the third round of the US Open 2020. The World No. 1 outlasted Kyle Edmund, 6-7 (5/7), 6-3, 6-4, 6-2, at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Despite losing the first set, the Serbian clawed his way back to win three consecutive sets to close out the match in 3 hours and 14 minutes.

After the victory, Djokovic was seen celebrating his second-round win with his family in the virtual box. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, US Open officials have restricted the players’ box to a maximum of three members.

The virtual player’s box for the US open 2020 has been developed by The Famous Group to help players interact with their support staff through a digital experience. The massive screen is placed right behind the player’s seat to keep them motivated during the matches.

The reigning Australian Open Champion was waving to his mother, girlfriend, and his support staff, who in return congratulated Novak on the big win.

Kyle Edmund won the first set tiebreaker by firing an ace straight down the T but failed to keep the momentum over the course of the following sets. Djokovic won his sixth match against Edmund and leads the rivalry by 6-1.

Novak Djokovic to face Jan Struff in the third round

The 17-time Grand Slam Champion improved his win streak to 25 matches this year. The No. 1 seed lost his first tiebreaker of the year against Kyle Edmund and was previously 10-0 in tiebreakers this year. Djokovic was happy to have got tested early in the tournament and said that it would help him for the upcoming rounds.

Jan-Lennard Struff will face Djokovic in the third round at the Flushing Meadows. The German ousted Michael Mmoh in straight sets to set up his fifth career match against the 3-time US Open champion. The latter leads their rivalry with a tally of 4-0.

Struff has never gone past the third round at the US Open and will be playing Djokovic in a Grand Slam for the second time after their second-round match at the Australian Open 2020.
