The FA Community shield on Sunday might have ended as a stale mate but it wasn’t short of action. In the end Kyle Walker proved to be the difference between the two sides with a bicycle kick. The bicycle kick wasn’t an attempt at goal, but was a clearance off the goal line to deny Mohamed Salah a goal that could have been a winner for Liverpool.

Walker himself was extremely delighted with the clearance. He tweeted the video of his effort after the match with a caption that read, “All that Kyling practice finally paid off!”

Premier League champions Manchester City started the season’s curtain raiser in a good fashion when Raheem Sterling opened the scoring for them within the first few minutes. The goal came when City were at a numerical disadvantage with Leroy Sane being assessed for an injury. This stated the dominance of City at the start. Another positive for city was the way their record signing Rodri, who looks to have settled in quickly.

But the European champions slowly got into the game and opened the scoring through Joe Matip after coming close to scoring twice.

It was in the final few minutes that Mohamed Salah thought he had scored a potential winner for Liverpool when he headed a loose ball past Claudio Bravo, but right full back Kyle Walker had other ideas. He came in running and with an acrobatic bicycle kick, prevented the ball from going into the net.
