A few months back, Jones got into a spat with UFC president Dana White regarding his pay. He demanded a pay hike and even threatened to part ways with the promotion.

Once that feud settled down, Jones vacated his light heavyweight title. He opted to drop his duties at light heavyweight and has now switched focus to the heavyweight division. This immediate switch opened up a lot of prospects for Jones and the entire heavyweight division.
Jon Jones is already making strides
Jones has the option to take on Francis Ngannou — an opponent he has shown interest in — and Stipe Miocic, the current heavyweight champion. Though none of this is official yet, there are a lot of possibilities and opponents awaiting Jones at heavyweight.
