WATCH: Kyrie Irving Booed in the Match between Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks

Kyrie Irving of Brooklyn Nets

Kyrie Irving might be New York’s best player, but he had to go through some jeers at the Barclays centre where Brooklyn Nets were playing the New York Knicks on Friday.

Fans of New York Nicks did not hide their frustration on Irving for choosing Boston over Manhattan.

When Irving was coming on to take free throws during the match, the Knicks fans gave some stick to him by booing him.

However, Kyrie, come the end of the game, showed why he is the best in the city and what the Knicks missed. With just a few seconds to go, he scored a three-pointer which eventually turned out to be the winner.

It was a hard earned lead for the Knicks that was taken away by Irving’s clutch. Knicks had taken the one point lead after coming back from an 18 point deficit, but couldn’t hold on to it.

Irving finished with 26 points on 8-of-19 shooting, showing why he is one of the most clutch players in NBA. An emotional Kyrie Irving gave his jersey to his father after the game.

Knicks’ RJ Barret, who has come out of the same college playing basketball as Kyrie Irving praised the “great player” Irving.

“He earned it,’’ Barrett said. “Great player, champion. Great players make great plays. That’s what he did tonight. Same shot he hit to win the championship against Golden State [in 2016]. It was tough. I was right there. Nothing else you can do about that.’’
