Lionel Messi sent the whole of Argentina in raptures as his Argentina side won their first international trophy in 28 years after defeating Brazil in the finals of Copa America 2021.

Brazil’s ace striker, Neymar was in tears as he lost the final, but he had his old FC Barcelona mate to console him.

As the Argentine players were celebrating on the pitch, Neymar was in tears and walked over to Lionel Messi. The Argentine captain then gave Neymar a hug and consoled him. The two had an emotional moment that had many fans sniffing.

After losing the final, Neymar penned down his thoughts on Instagram. His message was directed to his old pal Messi, and he was happy to have received the help and guidance from the great man upon losing the crunch final.

“Losing hurts me, it hurts me… it’s something I haven’t learned to live with yet. Yesterday when I lost, I went to give a hug to the biggest and best in history that I saw playing.

Argentina’s moment was special because it had lots of stakes attached to it. First, Lionel Messi finally won an international trophy that was missing from his trophy cabinet.

Moreover, they beat their arch-rivals, Brazil in Brazil. And Brazil were also the defending champions hence beating them was a major blessing for Argentine Fans. The match-winner for Argentina was Angel di Maria.

The Neymar and Messi moment surely brought tears into the eyes of FC Barcelona fans as well. It has been a large consensus that Neymar shouldn’t have left Barcelona for Paris Saint Germain.
