WATCH: MS Dhoni Delivers an Inspirational Speech

Former Indian captain MS Dhoni was seen delivering an inspirational speech in a promotional event ahead of joining the Indian Army.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who holds an honorary Lieutenant Colonel rank in the territorial unit of the Indian Army, has opted out of India tour of West Indies to serve his regiment. It was reported that he would train with parachute regiment and would also be deployed in Kashmir, though he would not be involved in any Military operations.

Dhoni received immense praise for serving the Army and BCCI also him skip the West Indies tour to do so.

Dhoni is also seen showing his sense of humour while speaking about life after 50.

“The real need of marriage is, once you cross fifty, it’s a time of real love, where your children are going to schools and colleges and that’s the time you get for yourself,” Dhoni was seen saying in his motivational speech.

His love for the army has always been apparent and even in the speech he is seen sporting a khakee T-shirt over a blue jeans.

Earlier, Dhoni was immensely criticized on his approach while batting for being too slow. Even in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, he was slammed for ‘lack of intent’. There were also strong speculations of his retirement after the World Cup. But there was no official statement from Dhoni and he only opted out of the West Indies tour hinting at playing further international cricket. BCCI, though said that Dhoni is no longer an automatic selection in the team and the team would try to groom youngsters like Rishabh Pant for the future.

There are quite a few options coming up for the wicket keeper position with Andhra’s KS Bharat also in contention. While Pant was the only wicket-keeping option in the limited overs squad for the West Indies tour, Wriddhiman Saha, who was back from a long injury, found a place in the Test squad along with Pant.
