Two days ahead of the commencement of the ATP World Tour Finals 2019, the best eight players gathered on Friday for the media day in London, where Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic also had a common press conference.

The Nitto ATP Finals has adopted a different format for press conferences compared to the other tournaments on the ATP Tour. The top eight players on the ATP rankings are divided into two groups – the Andre Agassi group and the Bjorn Borg group for the year-end tournament.

The players in each group went through a joined press conference on the media day, that is, the players in the Andre Agassi group – Rafael Nadal, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev had a common press conference.

While Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Dominic Thiem, and Matteo Berrettini, who are drawn in the Bjorn Borg group had a combined press conference.

Roger Federer recognized the fact that the championship match against Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon was great and special for both of them, especially for the Serbian.

“I am very excited to face Novak here again. Wimbledon was epic. It’s not going to be like that same epic here because it’s the best of three sets, but that was a special match for both of us. Maybe it was a bit more special for him than me but that’s Okay, I moved on a long time ago,” Federer told the reporters on Friday.

Now, by the fate of the ATP World Tour Finals 2019 draw in London, the two goliaths of the sport will unsheathe the sword again as Federer looks forward to the match as he feels that it will be interesting to play the defending runner-up in indoors.

He concluded: “It will be interesting to see how our styles look indoors, where everything depends more on serve rather than what your opponent does. But to be frank, I’m excited to play against Novak.”
