

World No.2 Rafael Nadal was recently allowed to return back to the practice courts abiding by the lockdown rules in Spain. The Spaniard also posted the first image of his return to training at his academy in his hometown Mallorca, Spain.

Earlier, Nadal had not touched the tennis racquet for almost two months during the coronavirus lockdown. He last trained before the commencement of the Indian Wells Masters in early March. However, he returned to Spain after the cancelation of the event due to the outbreak of coronavirus.

As the pandemic swept around the world, Spain was among the worst-hit nations by the deadly virus. Consequently, Nadal was confined at his home for several weeks. However, two weeks earlier, the Spanish Government eased the lockdown rule in Mallorca as there was a significant decrease in both the number of coronavirus deaths and new infections in the Balearic Islands.

Consequently, Nadal was able to return to practice at his academy. Subsequently, the 19-time Grand Slam champion has posted a video of his practice and he looked in perfect shape as he struck the ball quite cleanly.

“Happy to be back on my practices and happy for the kids at the Rafael Nadal Academy who can also play. Here some footage from today,” wrote Nadal on social media.

Earlier, the 33-year-old had revealed that he is pessimistic about the 2020 season. He feels that the tennis tour might resume next year and he is more worried about the Australian Open 2021. Nevertheless, the Spaniard has to keep himself in shape and be prepared to resume the tour anytime.
